Is it possible that Ventura County could have better Thai food than Santa Barbara? Mr. Picky, having exhausted his search for palatable Santa Barbara Thai food, recently ventured out to Ventura County and was pleased to discover both Jasmine Thai in Ventura and White Elephant in Thousand Oaks.
White Elephant, located in Thousand Oaks on Moorpark Road in the Whole Foods shopping center, has truly authentic Thai comfort food, a nice setting, and wonderful customer service. The curries are amazing. Try the Panang, which is served up thick and rich with just the amount of spice. They also include a tray of condiments so you can add to the flavors if you like. We love the purple “fobidden” rice option for a nice change from the usual white or brown rice.
Jasmine Thai in Ventura also offers excellent customer service and super tasty dishes. Pad Thai and the Pad Ke Mau-flat fried noodles with basil, veggies and chili is definitely a Picky favorite. Their curries are great as are the salads and appetizers.
